Gold Coast

Message from the President

National Council of Jewish Women Gold Coast Section was founded in February 1969 and is the only Jewish Women’s organisation on the Gold Coast.

Although we are one of the smaller Sections, we are very active in Community Services. This portfolio is always busy, especially with the elderly members of our community.

Our group provides social as well as educational activities and events for members, especially in the areas of Status of Women, Interfaith, and fund-raising for Israel and the local Jewish and wider Communities.

New members of all ages are most welcome. Please contact us for information on membership and Section meetings.

With Council Greetings,

Barbara Stewart-Kann OAM

More about Community Services

Our Section continues to be strong in this portfolio, with assistance to the elderly, single mothers, distressed families and those with a disability. Our volunteers visit hospitals, Aged Care Facilities and home visits on request. We arrange carers for interstate visitors. Our services in partnership with Gold Coast Jewish Community Services Inc consist of the following:

  • Referrals to ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team)
  • Assistance with Care Packages and Aged Care Facilities
  • Assistance with Local and State Government Departments
  • Counselling and Legal Advice
  • EACH – a new program provided by the Government which provides individuals with a 20-25 hour per week high care package

The combination of the two organisations’ resources has been extremely beneficial for NCJWA and GCJCS and most importantly, the community. Food parcels are provided to our elderly and those in need at Rosh Hashanah and throughout the year when required. For assistance, please phone 0412 377 488. All enquiries will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
