Haifa Rape Crisis Center (HRCC)
About the Program

The Haifa Rape Crisis Center (HRCC) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to opposing sexual violence. Established in 1979, the HRCC is responsible for providing services to the regions of northern Israel from Hadera to the Upper Galilee – an area that includes over one million people. The HRCC supports survivors of sexual violence and their families, raises the awareness of the community and professionals to the implications of sexual violence, and works to protect and promote survivors’ rights.

The HRCC operates a 24-hour help line for survivors of rape, sexual assault, incest and sexual harassment, which is run by 70 volunteers. It also provides continuing support for survivors support groups, legal counselling and accompaniment to the police, hospital and courts.

The HRCC facilitates extensive community outreach and educational programs addressing children, young people, parents, teachers and youth at risk, and trains a wide range of professionals from therapists to police officers, to respond more effectively and sensitively to the needs of survivors and the issues of sexual violence.

The HRCC is involved in the national advocacy efforts and campaigns to further legislation regarding the rights of survivors and the elimination of sexual violence at large.
